RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

Downtown Security Ambassador

Safety Ambassadors are responsible for providing a visible uniformed security presence within the boundaries of the Discovery Special Improvement District, a forty square block area in downtown Columbus.  Ambassadors are responsible for providing the following:
•      Patrolling the Discovery Special Improvement District on bike
•      Reporting various safety concerns that include, but are not limited to: criminal activity (i.e. public intoxication, aggressive panhandling, drug dealing, and criminal trespassing) and suspicious behavior in the public realm.  
•      Interacting with security managers, property managers, residents, employees, students, visitors, Division of Police, and homeless people who may be in the neighborhood on a regular basis.
•      Providing information, directions, and other assistance
One part-time and two full-time ambassador positions are available.  Employees will be offered wages starting at $10 - $11/hour, along with a generous benefits package and complete uniforms.  
This job is an opportunity to keep downtown Columbus area clean by power washing the sidewalks and completing special projects. This job will require the candidate to work independently and be reliable. The 37-block area contains various types of surfaces including concrete, to brick, granite, and marble. The two-person team will be responsible for completing set work schedules every night. Although the on staff mechanic will prepare all necessary maintenance the applicant should have some ability to do basic maintenance.

Along with enjoying working outside in all weather the candidate should be comfortable being dirty and/or wet.

As part of the Downtown ambassador program the power washer will interact with citizens on the street and be of assistance to them.
