Downtown Toledo Adds Block by Block Program

With the inception of a new Special Improvement District in Toledo , Ohio , Block by Block has been selected to implement and manage a safety and cleaning ambassador program. Block by Block was chosen from a pool of national and local companies.

Beginning April 6 th you will find a team of friendly Ambassadors patrolling the streets of downtown Toledo in the bright green colors of the newly formed Downtown Toledo Improvement Corporation. The team will be responsible for carrying out a wide variety of duties to make downtown Toledo safer, cleaner and more friendly.

Cleaning related tasks include removing litter, graffiti and weeds from the district, along with power washing and special projects to provide the district with a more refined level of cleanliness.

Safety Ambassadors will circulate through the district on foot and bicycle to interact with visitors, make recommendations of things to see and do, maintain a relationships with businesses and enhance the uniformed presence on the streets to deter unwanted activity. All Safety Ambassadors will be trained in dealing with quality of life issues, such as panhandling and loitering, which are low level offenses, but never the less detract from a downtown's perceptions of safety.

The entire staff of Block by Block is excited about the opportunity to serve the stakeholders of downtown Toledo and view this as a tremendous opportunity to share our working knowledge of downtowns. We are looking forward to making downtown Toledo and brighter, friendlier place to live, work, play or invest!

 

About the Downtown Toledo Improvement District

The Downtown Toledo Improvement District was officially formed in January of 2006 by local business leaders to enhance the services provided in downtown and promote Toledo as a great place to do business. The Improvement District is led by a committee of downtown leaders who are committed to the prosperity and growth of downtown Toledo . The district is bounded by Adams, Monroe , 11 th and the Maumee River .
