Bi-Annual
Operations Manager’s Meeting Wraps Up In Louisville
March 19, 2004
In
an effort to share best practices and to reinforce standards
Block by Block held a series of meetings and workshops for
its Operations Managers March 16 - 18 at its corporate headquarters
in Louisville, KY. Titled "Getting Back to Basics" the
meeting of Operations Managers was intended to reintroduce
the key leaders of Block by Block's clean and safe
programs to the company's hiring processes and standards.
"In evaluating our current and historical practices regarding
the way we recruit, select and hire ambassadors we thought
it was an appropriate time to review and discuss our practices,
especially for the new management team members that have
been brought on board through our recent growth. People are
the key to our business and we must make certain that we
are taking the appropriate steps to solidify each team, in
each city with the right people", commented Steve Hillard,
Vice President of Block by Block.
In addition to the review of Internal Human Resource functions
the group of Operations Managers received training from key
speakers regarding Workers Compensation and Employment Law.
Blair McBride, Project and Quality Assurance Manager, delivered
a presentation regarding the newly crated Quality Assurance
position as well as new projects and initiatives that were
in the pipeline for completion in 2004. Workshops were also
held to serve as open forums for discussion of all operational
matters. During the sessions the Operations Managers and
Administrative Staff made collective decisions regarding
various matters such as uniforms, supplies and logistics.
"This is a great opportunity for our group to get together,
get a lot of good information, while at the same time, relax,
get to know each other and share common experiences",
stated Danny Aultman, Regional Director.
The next meeting of Block by Block Operations Managers is
tentatively scheduled for October 1 – 2 in Vancouver,
British Columbia, which precedes the Annual Conference of
the International Downtown Association.
