Sunset Strip Business Improvement District Security Ambassadors to be Provided by Block by Block

The selection committee of the Sunset Strip Business Improvement District has selected Block by Block to be it's new provider of Security Ambassador Services. Until recently the program had been staffed and operated by a local security company, which spurred the organization's leaders to explore all options during the renewal of the contract for services. Block by Block was selected from a large number of potential vendors based on the company's Ambassadorial approach to services and its approach to dealing with safety issues problematic to Urban Areas.

A staff of approximately sixteen Safety Ambassadors will patrol the famed Sunset Boulevard and other streets within the district to augment the presence of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department. You can find the highly visible Ambassadors patrolling the streets on foot and bicycle between 8pm and 4am each day. In addition to basic patrol, Security Ambassadors will provide Public Relations visits to businesses, interact with patrons to provide information and assistance and deal with quality of life issues such as homelessness, panhandling, solicitation and public intoxication.

Prior to working the streets all Security Ambassadors are provided with a wide variety of training to include procedures for dealing with homelessness, quality of life issues and general operating protocol. Areas of training also include customer service, an orientation to the Sunset Strip, course on local laws and ordinances, CPR and First Aid and safe bicycle operating procedures.

About the Sunset Strip Business Association

The Sunset Strip Business Improvement District (BID) is an assessment district which aims to improve the business and neighboring residential environment on Sunset Boulevard by using private funding to add needed services not provided by the public sector. The Sunset Strip BID is a coalition of business owners willing to form a benefit assessment district, with the understanding that all funded services will be in addition to the public service level already provided. A nonprofit California Corporation run by the businesses, the Sunset Strip Business Association, Inc., manages the Sunset Strip BID under contract with the City of West Hollywood .

The Sunset Strip BID encompasses approximately 1.3 miles on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood . The district is bounded roughly by Doheny Road on the west to a half block east of Havenhurst Drive .
