Downtown
Albuquerque Group Selects Block by Block

The
well known and respected Downtown Action Team of Albuquerque,
NM has selected Block by Block to provide coordination, staffing
and full program management for its downtown Safety, Cleaning
and Hospitality Ambassador Program. After careful consideration
of many potential vendors, both national and local, the Downtown
Action Team selected Block by Block based on qualifications,
abilities and proven experience in managing Ambassador programs
for downtowns throughout the United States . The Downtown
Action Team program had been previously operated by in-house
staff, but the decision was made to outsource the program
to an experienced company who had the ability to continually
improve the program and continually ‘raise the bar' in reference
to services delivered.
On
September 27 th the revamped Ambassador Team took to the streets
armed with an expansive body of knowledge covering all aspects
of serving a downtown environment. In addition to learning
the best methods for providing a safe and clean downtown,
the Ambassadors received valuable training, which provided
a wide variety of skills. The DAT Ambassadors are able to
provide a wide range of services such as engaging panhandlers,
offering outreach assistance to the homeless, making a wide
range of recommendations to downtown visitors and building
relationships with downtown workers. This training will prove
to be invaluable as the team works to create and enhance a
positive downtown experience for those who live, work or play
in Downtown Albuquerque.
Part
of the reorganization of the Downtown Action Team under the
direction and leadership of Block by Block was to unveil a
new image package for on street services. Members of the Ambassador
Team can be easily identified working in the downtown area
wearing the teal and khaki colors of the Downtown Action Team.
In fact even a newly implemented litter collection vacuum
has been emblazon in teal green.
Block
by Block is appreciative of the opportunity afforded to us
by the Downtown Action Team and look forward to accomplishing
great things in Downtown Albuquerque.
About
the Downtown Action Team
The
Downtown Action Team is a private, non-profit membership organization
dedicated to the revitalization of Downtown Albuquerque as
the best mid-sized Downtown in the USA . DAT's advocacy for
Downtown puts good will Ambassadors on the streets, provides
maintenance, promotional programs and sponsors events, as
well as fosters public and private cooperation for quality
growth and investment in downtown development.
DAT
receives its budget from membership dues and from property
and business owners in Downtown through the Business Improvement
District.
A
BID provides for an assessment on property for downtown improvements
and services, including Clean & Safe Teams, marketing/public
relations, business recruitment and retention, neighborhood
relations, government relations and more. BID services enhance,
and do not replace, basic City services. Funds raised by a
BID are governed by property and business owners, ensuring
accountability and control by those who pay. DAT also strives
to enhance its budget through grant writing and fundraising.

Mission: To creatively plan, manage and develop Downtown Albuquerque
to become the best mid-sized Downtown in the USA .
